Hanoi, October 9, 2024 – Phenikaa University hosted a key meeting of the Climate Change Adaptation through Geospatial Digital Data and Earth Observation (CADEO) project on October 9th, bringing together experts, faculty members, and project stakeholders to discuss advancements in climate adaptation technology and strategies for knowledge transfer to Vietnamese institutions.
This collaborative project, funded by Erasmus+ CBHE, focuses on enhancing climate resilience in Vietnam by equipping local universities with the latest geospatial and Earth observation tools and methodologies. The meeting highlighted project achievements, reviewed training outcomes, and established the next phases of implementation to maximize the project’s impact.
Key Highlights of the CADEO Project Meeting:
Progress Review and Updates: Project leaders and Phenikaa University faculty reviewed the progress made in the training of Vietnamese faculty members. Series of the Training of Trainers (T.o.T) sessions conducted on October 3rd, 6th, 8th at VGU, HU, HUMG had been particularly impactful, preparing educators with hands-on skills in climate-focused geospatial applications.
Presentations focused on the integration of Geospatial Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI) and Digital Twin technologies, illustrating how these tools can provide real-time climate data and predictive models essential for proactive adaptation efforts.
Discussions covered plans for sustaining the skills acquired through the project. Attendees explored ways to integrate geospatial digital data modules into Vietnamese university curricula, thus embedding climate adaptation knowledge in future educational programs.
Project members outlined strategies for expanding the CADEO project’s reach, including upcoming partnerships, additional T.o.T sessions, and resources for broader institutional adoption. The team also discussed potential opportunities to leverage additional funding sources for sustained support and future growth.
The CADEO project is set to transform how Vietnamese educational institutions approach climate adaptation by providing resources, expertise, and capacity-building in EO and geospatial artificial intelligent that are vital for understanding and addressing climate challenges. As the project moves forward, Phenikaa University and its partners will continue to strengthen climate resilience efforts in Vietnam through educational innovation, applied technology, and sustained international collaboration.
