Dr. La Vinh Trung is the Acting Head of Research Management Department at the Vietnamese-German University (VGU). He received his Ph.D. in the field of River Engineering at Saitama University, Japan in 2015. Prior to that, he obtained his Master’s degree in Environmental Science and Engineering in Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and Stanford University, the States in 2019. Before joining VGU, Dr. Trung worked for the Southern Institute of Water Resources Research, Thuyloi University, Maritime Research Centre in Vietnam and Singapore, respectively as a lecturer and researcher in the field of hydraulic construction and river/coastal management.
Being involved in projects at different levels and roles (PI/project manager/coordinator/Scientific Secretary/Key member) funded by both Vietnam’s government and international funding agencies, Dr. Trung has had solid knowledge and hand-on experiences in project management and coordination. His research interests focus on sediment transportation, salinity intrusion, climate change and proposed measures for mitigation and adaptation.
