Le Phuoc Thanh

Le Phuoc Thanh was born in 1972. He is CEO and Board member of Vietnam- Denmark VidaGIS Company Ltd (VidaGIS), a joint venture between Vietnam and Denmark focused on spatial data management.

He got a master’s degree from Geoinformatics – International Institute for Geo- Information Science and Earth Observation, Enschede, Netherlands, 1999- 2000.

Le Phuoc Thanh has a deep knowledge at map, remote sensing, GIS system design, opensource GIS… He is an active member of Vietnam Geodetic, Mapping and Remote sensing association (VGCR), Vietnam Water supply and Sewerage association (VWSA), Free & Open-source Software for GIS (FOSS4G), Free & Opensource Software Org of Vietnam (VFOSSA). He is one of the founders of GIS Network in Vietnam, which is included by hundreds of GIS professionals and operates the National GIS conference every year.

Before becoming CEO of VidaGIS, he worked for MONRE, where he is manager of two science research funds by the government, in the topographic mapping automation sector. When he worked for VidaGIS from 2003 until now, he is in charge of architecture, design, development and implementing many GIS, RS projects for international organizations: WB, ADB, WHO…, state agencies: MONRE, MARD, MOT…, research institutes, universities, companies in Vietnam, Denmark, Thailand, Malaysia. He was a member of a national science project to build SDI based open-source software for Hue city. He is the leader of R&D VidaGIS team to develop Aktivmap platform, a unique and flexible, multi-tenant GIS/AMS platform that could apply to smart city, smart factory and digital twins.
