Hanoi, October 8, 2024 – A pivotal Training of Trainers (T.o.T) workshop under the “Climate Change Adaptation through Geospatial Digital Data and Earth Observation (CADEO)’ project was successfully conducted at Hanoi University of Mining and Geology. This workshop brought together experts and faculty from across Vietnam and Europe to focus on enhancing climate adaptation skills through advanced geospatial technology.

The workshop aimed to equip Vietnamese educators with essential geospatial and Earth observation skills to support the country’s climate adaptation initiatives. With expert sessions led by European specialists, the T.o.T session delved into core topics critical to understanding and addressing climate change challenges in Vietnam.

Highlights of the Workshop:

– Geospatial Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI): Dr. Ludovico Biagi introduced participants to cutting-edge GeoAI techniques that empower researchers to analyze vast datasets for climate-related insights.

– Earth Observation Applications: Dr. Micael Runnström showcased how Earth observation tools can track environmental changes over time, providing crucial data for climate change and environmental monitoring.

– Digital Twin Earth: Dr. Daniele Oxoli presented on digital twin applications, illustrating how virtual simulations can predict environmental impacts and guide resource planning.

– Geospatial Web Applications: Prof. Ali Mansourian shared insights into web-based solutions, broadening accessibility to geospatial resources for local communities and organizations.

The workshop served as a hands-on opportunity for faculty members to acquire practical skills in data analysis, mapping, and climate modeling. Participants practiced applying these methods in real-world scenarios, gaining the proficiency needed to independently lead future geospatial education and climate adaptation initiatives within their institutions.

This T.o.T workshop marks a significant step forward in the CADEO project’s mission to build sustainable climate resilience in Vietnam through cutting-edge geospatial education. By empowering Vietnamese universities to adopt these tools, the project directly contributes to enhancing the country’s ability to respond effectively to climate challenges.
